BMW E65 CAS1 Add a Key via Xhorse VVDI2 on Bench

Today I’m going to make a quick demo of how to use Xhorse VVDI2 Programmer to add a key for BMW E65 CAS1 on bench.

Preparation

Connect VVDI2 with BMW CAS1 box and voltmeter according to wiring diagram.

Procedure

Start VVDI2 software on computer, 

BMW >> Prepare dealer key with programmer >> Put new key into programmer, click “OK”

Is the new key have keyless? No

Key make okay and locked. Please use it start the car.

If can not start engine, use “Add key” function add the dealer key to CAS system.

If key can start engine, but keyless not working, please use “Repair keyless key” function.

Click “OK”.

Click “Get key info”.

Add key: you should inset a working key into ignition and correct device with car before continue. Click “Next”.

The dealer key should be taken away from ignition switch. If key is keyless, please move it out of car. If there’s no key in ignition, continue anyway.

Press “OK” to continue.

Please use “Save key info” to save the original key information, press “OK”.

Select a blank key position, key 5. Click “Add key”.

Please put new key into programmer, click “OK”.

No >> OK

Writing data success.

New dealer key success written to CAS system. You can start engine with the new key now. If can’t please use the original working key first. Click “OK”.

Get key info >> Add key, next >> OK >> OK

Reading new key information success.

Done!

VVDI2 Program BMW CAS2/CAS3 Remote Key by OBD

Hello guys, today I’m gonna use Xhorse VVDI2 to program remote key button 868MHz PCF7945 transponder for BMW CAS2. This tutorial is applied to BMW CAS3 as well.

Steps

Connect VVDI2 with OBD port of BMW, start up VVDI2 software: 

BMW >> Connect >> Get Key Info

Select “add key”, insert a working key into ignition and connect VVDI2 with car before continue. Click “Next”.

Take away the dealer key from ignition switch. If key is keyless, move it our of car. If there is no key in ignition, continue anyway, click “OK”.

Reading data success.

Please use “Save key info” to save the original key information. Click “OK”.

Select one blank key position “Key 4”, click “Prepare dealer key with programmer”.

Put new key into VVDI2 programmer, click “OK”.

Is the new key have keyless. Click “No”.

Key make okay and locked. Click “OK” to complete.

Now let’s have a try, the key can start engine and the remote function works normal.

Q & A on VVDI2 BMW FEM USA 433 Mhz key programming not working

Post starts with the problem that BMW FEM USA 433 Mhz key programming is not working, then followed with the answers and questions between two users.

key added but key still in unlock state -> remote not working just start if I put key near to steering column key mark

and this has happened to me when I try to add key to an e60 with key-less go function,

with the latest version of sw I think was VVDI2-InstallerV560 key programming was not ok (remote and key-less go function not working but car start if i inset key in slot)

and with VVDI2-InstallerV550 key programming was ok remote and key-less go function working

Answer:
Add key to FEM is made automatically FEM software
VVDI only Login module and next step is done by FEM itself,
There is nothing write during key program etc, FEM must recognize KEY, and add it etc
This is typical problem is you SWAP data from FEM to FEM and not unlock and add KEy again KEY after that, or key is not correct, or you unlock key with bad file
Proper key unlock + VVDI, and no problem at all.

Q: 
Add key to FEM is made automatically FEM software -> if this is the case then my opinion is that the FEM USA CAR is flashed with a bad file.

VVDI only Login module and next step is done by FEM itself, -> a brand new 2000 km car from USA why would not do this? 3 key is registered in FEM

There is nothing write during key program etc, FEM must recognize KEY, and add it etc -> has I write key added in the key list but PCF is still in unlock state so somebody must lock PCF

This is typical problem is you SWAP data from FEM to FEM and not unlock and add KEy again KEY after that, -> not the case car was not touched before me and have a working key

or key is not correct,-> I take a key from eBay USA more I buy from https://auto-keys.eu/index.php?route=product/product&path=179_369&product_id=42300

or you unlock key with bad file -> do you think that barracuda make a bad job?

and regarding e60 if I remember well because the job is more than 5 mounts old with both VVDI sw learning key with ignition was not ok and by programmer with older version of sw than the latest one key become functional.
