Fixed! W230 EIS renew problem with Xhorse VVDI MB BGA Tool

Problem: I did the stupid mistake to renew a W230 EIS (customer vehicle), because someone else wanted to enter the VIN (he had problems in Xentry/DAS). 

I first saved the EIS Data in both provided formats with xhorse BGA Tool, and clicked on renew EIS. 

This was successful and the EIS is now unpersonalized. Now neither can I write a VIN (no OBD communication) nor can rewrite the state back to the chip. 

And all the keys are disabled (see attachment). Now I can't even start the engine (the owner will soon be mad at me). 

The MCU is Motorla SC510108CFU (4J74Y). Could not be read by VVDI prog. Tried with Immobilizer->BENZ->EIS-W230(4J74Y) 

Resoldered wires 5 times, tried to read countless times.

I have another used EIS with a bit different part number and the ST12 1L59W Chipset, but I wasn't able to retrieve the Key password out of it.

I managed to read the used EIS. All bins from BGA Tool and VVDI Prog are in the attachment (Including VIN)

Finally solved!

I was able to write the VIN and EIS data back on the bench. Worked like a charm after connecting VCC, GND, and K-Line (the blue alligator clip on VVDI MB BGA TOOL OBD cable make so much sense now)

How To: 

 1. Connect EIS directly to OBD by enhancing my already existing bench cable set (W230 was missing) with pin cable from my old Arduino days

 2. Typed in VIN and wrote it via OBD (not possible over IR) to the EIS --> Successful

 3. Loaded backup EIS data and wrote it back to EIS via IR

 4. Read EIS Data again to verify that "Personalized" is checked and the previous keys are "used"

 5. To activate the EIS (last checkbox), go to "Other Function->Customer Request->Set Type to W230(K)->click on connect" when connection successful, click on the "Activate EIS" Button. Repeat "Connect" but if it fails and checks your wiring. 

 6. Read EIS Data again and verify that "Activated" is checked as well. 

 7. Try to turn existing programmed keys -> they should turn now

 8. Reassemble EIS to the car and start the engine

Why Xhorse VVDI MB Tool“Erasing EIS...Failed!”?

Problem

I was using Xhorse VVDI MB Tool to erase EIS for a Mercedes Benz, but all basic information and key information go to 0. It said “Erasing EIS...Failed!”, what is the problem? Please help me!

OBD2shop engineer replied.

The reason for VVDI MB Tool erasing EIS failed is because the key password and erase password are all zero. Only to have both passwords can erase EIS successfully.

Solved! VVDI MB Tool Can’t Read EIS W210 Password

 “I can’t read the data to get the password with Xhorse VVDI MB BGA Tool on an EIS W210. I have tokens to read and that’s okay. But when the reading was done and I was going to decode the password, the VVDI MB Tool cut me off at the start.” one customer gave feedback with a picture and asked for help.

Customer problem:

Solution:

The data was collected incorrectly, please re-collect again to calculate the key password.

The problem was solved! VVDI MB Tool can read the Mercedes Benz W210 password successfully now.

How to make key for Benz W176 with VVDI MB BGA Tool?

I use VVDI MB BGA TOOL to make key for w176 2013 year, work 100%.

We start by reading the cars data via OBD, this takes about 20 minutes.

We now program the key data into the new key.

Insert the MB key into VVDI MB Tool by following the instruction.

Now put the key into ignition and it will now start the key teach in process and central locking will start to work.

How to update Xhorse VVDI MB BGA Tool Firmware

This blog will show you how to update firmware of Xhorse VVDI MB BGA Tool.

The program will read the newest software version from server automatically and then you can do things shows below:

1. Update firmware steps:
1) Connect VVDI – MB TOOL to PC with USB cable
2) Choose VVDI – MB TOOL firmware version from Firmware List
3) Press button Update Online, wait the progress end
4) If failed to get firmware list or get something like “communicate with server error!”
while update your device, close antivirus and firewall programs, try again. Change
your internet provider once failed again
5) DON’T shutdown your PC or disconnect USB cable while update device

2. Reflash Firmware List
Update Online Tool will connect to server automatically and download the newest
firmware information. You can press reflash picture button if there’s no display.
After you get information success, will display current support firmware list, the software
support by specify firmware and the mainly include update information

3. Device Information
After connect VVDI-MB TOOL to PC and install USB drivers, Press button Device
Information, will show you VVDI-MB TOOL Serial Number, current firmware version and
hardware version etc

4. Update Online
After connect VVDI-MB TOOL to PC and install USB drivers, choose you expect firmware
